President David Granger has approved the conferral of National Awards to the new Commissioner of Police and army’s Inspector General.
According to the Ministry of the Presidency, subsequent to the appointments of Leslie Albert James as Commissioner of Police, and Colonel Trevor Earl Bowman as Inspector General of the Guyana Defence Force, President David Granger, been consulting on the matter.
The President, who is the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces and Chancellor of the Orders of Guyana, had consultations with the Chairman and Members of the Advisory Council of the Orders of Guyana.
The Top Cop will be conferred the Disciplined Services Star (DSS) while the Military Service Medal will be conferred on Colonel Trevor Earl Bowman, with effect from September 12, 2018, the ministry said.
It was also disclosed that the Disciplined Services Medal was previously awarded to Mr. Leslie Albert James and has since been withdrawn.
