A 51-year-old labourer was rushed to the Port Mourant Hospital on Monday night after gunshots were reportedly fired in his direction at the Port Mourant Drainage pump, resulting in him sustaining minor injuries to his leg.
The man has been identified as Roopnarine Ramnauth, of Lot 92 Clifton Settlement, Corentyne, Berbice. He was treated at the hospital and sent away.
Information received suggests that it may have been a robbery attempt on the labourer’s employer, a cattle farmer.
However, according to the Divisional Commander Clifton Hicken, detectives are investigating.
No one has since been arrested and investigations are ongoing.
