Team Evolutions Paul De Nobrega outhusteled an experienced field to emerge winner of the Flying Ace Cycle Club of Berbice, annual Guyana Beverage Company/Oasis Water sponsored 70-mile Cycle Road Race which was contested on Sunday last in the Ancient County.
De Nobrega completed the race in Two Hours 50 Minutes 37.99 Seconds, crossing the line ahead of Andre Green, Andrew Hicks, Balram Narine, Romello Crawford, Michael Anthony, Rastaff Oselmo, Alanzo Ambrose, Kemuel Moses and Jornel Yearwood.
Ralph Seenarine was the top junior cyclist on show and he was followed to the line by Denzil Huntley and David Hicks in that order. Junior Niles was the winner of the Masters category in Three Hours 04 Minutes 11 Seconds. Clement Doris placed second with Sybourne Fernandes third. The event pedaled off from the Guyana Beverage Company’s office at Palmyra, Eats Berbice proceeded to the Corentyne before returning to the strating line for the finish.
The 12-14 race was won by J. Joseph with Mario Washington and Steve Bhimson, 2nd and 3rd, respectibvely while the top two club riders were Balram Narine and Clement Doris.
Brand Manager Raymond Govinda thanked the cyclists for participating in the race and congratulated the winners. He had words of commendation for the FACC and Roberts for the good work done. He said that the company is pleased with the way the event has been organised over the years and pledged that it will continue to sponsor the event.
Roberts was also happy that the company came on board to sponsor the race and of their future commitment.
