Since 2015, due to the politics that affected the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB), it was unable to host any cricket finals. The situation was corrected on Saturday last when the Hilbert Foster led BCB hosted a memorable final between Albion and Rose Hall Town at the Albion Ground.
This was the first of twenty-two, the BCB plans to host at all levels before the 31st December, 2018. The Managing Director of Mike’s Pharmacy was so impressed with the organising skills and dedication of the Board, that he announced to great applause that his company would renew sponsorship for 2019.
Singh hailed the standard of play he witnessed while Wayne Jones of the company stated that Mike’s Pharmacy was pleased to be associated with the BCB. Secretary of the Albion Cricket Club, Vemen Walter in a well received presentation at the closing ceremony of the first ever Mike’s Pharmacy Under-15 Tournament, hailed the outstanding work of President Hilbert Foster and his team.
Walter said that the tournament was well organised and the players were once again excited because they had so much to look forward to. The experienced Cricket Administrator stated that the Under-15 final was one of the best he had witnessed during his almost three decades in Berbice cricket.
Walter expressed the hope that the recent positive development in the last few months would continue and committed the Albion Cricket Club to working along with Foster and his team.
An elated Foster expressed gratitude to Mike’s Pharmacy for the renewing sponsorship for 2019 and announced that the new tournament would start in November, 2018 as the Board would be starting early preparation for the 2019 Inter-County Under-15 Championship.
Foster expressed gratitude to Walter for the kind words and noted that he would be a President for all youths, in spite of their race, greed or the club. He informed that the finals for the Under-17, Under-19, Under-21, four Magic Moments Inter-Zone, Patron T10 and Skyy Vodka T20 would be held shortly while another set would follow which include the New Building Society 40-Overs Second Division, Pepsi 50-Overs, Busta 40-Overs, Brian Ramphal Double Wicket Competition and Rhonda Lewis Memorial T20.
Foster also disclosed that the BCB is also working to have its own pitch covers and clinch a multi-million deal for a Three-Day First Division Tournament.
