DEAR EDITOR,
This may be one time that I totally agree with the Opposition Leader Bharat Jagdeo, when I read what he said about Guyana’s Government allowing Venezuelans settling in our country.
Yes, it is commendable that we want to help the ones fleeing from the ugly situation in their country, but to give them what appears to be permanent residence seems to me very unwise. Their president is already making claims to large portions of Guyana, so letting these so-called ‘Venezuelan Refugees’ in could be nothing but a soft invasion.
I am reminded about the story of the Greeks and their Trojan horse and their invasion of Troy, the situation is slightly similar.
So if Guyanese and their Government are not careful and extremely vigilant, they may wake up one morning to find a sizable Venezuelan army embedded in Guyana and flying the Venezuelan flag.
Yours,
Stephen Henry
