De most unscrupulous people is dem who does pray three times a day and go to church or de masjid or de temple two or three times a day. Dem is de people who does talk bout righteousness and things like that. And some people does believe dem.
De odda day dem boys find out that nuff of dem nice and decent people around ain’t decent at all. Dem sell dem heart and dem soul fuh a few dollars.
Dem boys know that dem have people who got a problem wid Exxon and de contract dem sign fuh tek Guyana oil. People also note de expense Exxon saddle Guyana wid and this country don’t have too many people to do de audit.
But Exxon not happy wid all de criticism. Couple months ago de oil company complain how in odda countries this attack does only come when de oil start pump or when de company ready to pull out. Guyana, especially de news media, was quick to point out all de bad things Exxon do.
At first de oil company decide that after a while de criticism gun stop and life will be as normal. But de criticism is not finishing, so de next thing is to buy de silence of de critics. Dem boys hear that de oil company offer money to some organization.
One of de organization ask wha it gun do wid de money after it sell it soul? How de boss can face de staff again? How he can live wid heself?
But dem boys hear is a different story wid de Big Market paper. Like dem agree to tek some money fuh stop de attacks and if people don’t believe, just watch to see if de paper gun criticize Exxon. Is a sad day, because that paper got a management that does go to church every day and twice on Sundays.
De odda day Exxon start fuh sponsor cricket. Dem put money fuh support Guyana Amazon Warriors. If you see how people jump up. Every Tom, Dick and Harry, every race jump up and shout how Exxon is we saviour.
Even some MPs jump up and shout, “You see! Dem seh Exxon bad.” But dem ain’t realize is dem money Exxon spending.
Dem boys remember when de Exxon woman tell dem that he who pays de piper calls de tune.
Talk half and don’t tell yuhself Exxon giving nutten fuh nutten.
THIS IDIOT TELLING GUYANA WE HAVE NO SAY IN THE 50% PROFIT SHARING AGREEMENT WE HAVE WITH EXXON.
