United States Congressmen and senior military officers will be on a familiarisation visit here within the coming weeks.
Minister of State, Joseph Harmon, made the disclosure yesterday during a post-Cabinet briefing. While he was not able to confirm any names, he did say that this visit signals a growing confidence in the relationship between the US and Guyana. He noted that “it signals a very clear indication of Guyana’s importance on the international scene.” “There are a growing number of US businesses in Guyana, hence, the lawmakers may want to have a first-hand look at what is taking place,” the State Minister said.
Arrangements are currently being put in place for the visit.
Minister Harmon said further details on the persons comprising the team will be provided shortly. He also stated that the visit will be a short but important one.
