Former football coach James ‘Gads’ Dennis of the Edward ‘Screw’ Richmond Foundation‘s Canada Chapter on Wednesday made the final set of donations of a set of tops and a football to the reigning ‘Screw’ Richmond Linden Under-18 champions Christianburg Secondary School at his local residence in Retrieve. Linden.
Collecting the tops and football was coach of the multiple champions Dellon Peters who thanked Dennis for the gesture by the North America-based ‘Screw’ Richmond Foundation in the presence of the Guyana Chapter’s Coordinator Kevin DeJonge.
Dennis last week had donated tops and balls to the St. Aidans, Wismar Hill, One Mile and Regma Primary Schools.
Apart from Christianburg Wismar Secondary receiving a set of tops, the other three top performing secondary schools namely New Silvercity Secondary, Linden Foundation Secondary and the Private Schools Combined also were recipients from the Canadian organization.
In an invited comment Dennis said the ‘Screw’ Richmond Foundation sees the need to continue the push to have the players at school involved in playing the game. He said that there is where the nursery comes from and the movement of players to the club level for further playing in league competitions.
He acknowledged that former national striker Nigel Mice Cummings was playing a part to have the players involved at the club level through the Osmond Cummings Memorial Under-20 tournament which is heading to its final stage with the final set for August 26.
DeJonge praised the contributions of Dennis and the Screw Richmond Foundation, while committing to the continued playing of the annual Screw Richmond Under-18 tournament for schools in the town.
