Hearts of Oak United defeated Arsenal by four goals to one when the Berbice Football Association/Guyana Football Federation/ Pele Alumni/Frank Watson U15 league tournament continued on Tuesday last at All Saints ground, New Amsterdam.
Arsenal took the lead in the 25th minute through Jaren Fontanelle who dribbled and outran the chasing Hearts of Oak defence only to miss the ball entirely in his initial shot but recovered nicely to back-heel the ball into his opponents’ net.
However, this lead was short lived when a defensive error caused by Arsenal’s Jamal Adams in the 27th minute found the equaliser; Adams tried to clear a free kick but booted the ball into his own goal.
Following the interval, Hearts of Oak with the wind now in their back clearly dominated possession as Antoine Wright netted a hat-trick. He gave his team the lead in the 47th, when he shot from almost half way down and caught Arsenal custodian way off his line. His two other goals came in the 54th and 60th minutes when he shot past the outstretched hands of Samuel Rawlins.
Previously, Monedderlust and Rosignol United were no shows for their encounter with Corriverton Links.
The competition continues today with Arsenal FC playing Cougars FC at the said venue at 15:30hrs.
