Dear Editor,
Not one but two young female health workers are attached to the Good Hope/Pomona NDC in Region Two, but even with their presence, no action is being taken on a complaint I made of being faced with a health hazard.
My next door neighbour is rearing poultry on a large scale. The cleanings from the pens are dumped by my back fence where the stench becomes unbearable. The situation causes the infestation of flies.
The situation is so much dangerous if only because it promotes the transmission of germs and makes my home at Lot 23 Dryshore miserable. I have to endure considerable discomfort inconvenience and suffering which could well be avoided with proper administrative health work.
It is not even comfortable to have a proper meal with some of the flies landing on the food items being consumed.
Although it was made known to the health workers that fumigation could help as well as other ways to solve this problem once and for all, it just seemed to be like a big joke to them to laugh about. No inspection is made and the owner is not being contacted after more than two weeks.
These two officers seem to be under the delusion that I am begging a favour, when in fact they are under obligation and duty bound to be of service to the community. With so much being said to promote a healthy environment, it cannot be achieved from such a lackadaisical manner when better needs to be done.
Yours faithfully,
