The most recent Official Gazette registered GRA’s intention to do away with the items.
GRA has 110 cases of Tequila Ocho (750ml); 25 cases of Absolut Vodka, 75 cases of Johnnie Walker and 10 cases of Johnnie Walker Double Black
Also, the entity says it has one bottle of Tequila Silver Patron (750ml); four bottles of Crown Royal Whiskey (50ml) and ten bottles of Gronlivet Whiskey (50ml)
Further, GRA is in possession of at least 10 ATVs of Suzuki and Honda model. There are also Yamaha engines, scooters, Chappy and Trailer Chassis with wheels. See all at: http://officialgazette.gov.gy/images/gazettes-files/official_gazettes_21JULY2018.pdf.
GRA gave notice that the goods and machinery “stored at GRA’s Warehouse Facility will be disposed of under the Authority of Section 90 (2) of the Customs Act, Chapter 82:01.”
The section referred to speaks to “Goods deposited in a State warehouse may be sold.”
It says, “Where under the provisions of this Act any goods are required to be deposited in a State warehouse and such goods are of a perishable nature, then it shall be lawful for the proper officer, notwithstanding such provisions, to sell the same forthwith by public auction; and if such goods though not perishable are of a kind not permitted by any law to be deposited in a State warehouse, it shall be lawful for the proper officer, notwithstanding such law, to sell the same in such manner as the Comptroller may direct after fourteen days’ notice by publication in the Gazette.”
GRA said, “Any person having any lien on the above mentioned goods must forward his/her claims (stating the amount) to the Office of the Commissioner -General, Guyana Revenue Authority, Lots 200-201 Camp Street, Georgetown, not later than one month after this publication.”
