The 2nd Annual Three Peat Promotions Guinness Cage Competition received a timely boost when Yhip’s Bakery added its name to the list of growing sponsors, during a simple ceremony that was conducted on Monday, at the entity’s location on Robb Street, Bourda.
The Bakery Establishment which has been in existence for over seventy (70) years has been a consistent contributor to sports and athletes and Monday’s extension of goodwill was just another clear example of the entity’s love for sports and its development.
Making the presentation on behalf of the Bakery was rugby coach Troy Yhip, who presented the cheque for an undisclosed sum to Co-Principal Rawle Welch.
Welch in his remarks thanked Yhip for his support, adding that the friendship that exists between them dates back years.
“I have known Troy for a number of years and we’ve always been close and I was always confident that I will receive some level of support for the tournament from him. He is a guy that loves to see sports move in a positive direction and he knows that the tournament is one such event that is geared to help foster better relations among the communities as well as advance the development of the shorter version of the sport,” Welch stated.
He promised that the tournament will be executed in a manner that will be appreciated by the sponsor.
The tournament is dubbed ‘East Coast Best versus the Rest’ and will be played over five days commencing August 8, at the Haslington Market Tarmac.
It is expected to attract twenty-four of the top teams in the shorter format with a minimum of twelve teams coming from the East Coast, while the remaining twelve will be selected from the Georgetown, Linden and West Demerara environs.
Among the other donors to have committed assistance are: Clarks footwear giants Chetsons, Queensway Security Services, E-Networks Inc., KSM Investments, Trophy Stall, Brass Aluminium & Cast Iron Foundry (BACIF), Ray’s Auto Sales, Y.K. Investments, Woodpecker Products, National Sports Commission, Express Shipping, ‘C’ Division of the Guyana Police Force, Julius Variety Store, C & C Prestigious Styles and Attorney-at-Law Roysdale Forde.
