KSM Investments Inc. of Goed Hope, East Coast, Demerara and Ganesh Parts and General Store of Robb Street, Georgetown have thrown their support behind the Kennard Memorial Turf Club (KMTC) for the staging of their Emancipation Meet which is set for Sunday at Bush Lot, Corentyne in Berbice.
Director/Secretary of KSM Investments Inc., Khainwattie Ranchu presented the first place prizes for the L-Non Winner and L Open races. She said that the company is happy to be part of the event and its one way of giving back to the community. She added that that this is not the first time the company has supported the turf club and confirmed their continued backing of the sport.
Sales Representative of Ganesh Parts and General Store, Kawal Doobay, explained that they shared in a long and fruitful partnership with KMTC and this sponsorship further strengthens their union.
Ganesh Parts and General Store handed over the cash prize for the winner of the J3 and Lower event, which will go for nine furlongs.
Chairman of the KMTC Cecil Kennard spoke about the significance of sponsorship and expressed gratitude to both entities. “Those of us who are involved in the administration of sport know the importance of sponsorships for the successful staging of events of this nature.”
Kennard confirmed that over 60 horses have been entered for the one day meet, and the track is in fine condition despite some rain recently. The main event is for the E1 & Lower animals which covers a distance of seven furs and carries a top prize of $600,000. (Zaheer Mohamed)
