Police have detained the driver of a getaway car after he stopped to change the number plates of the vehicle. He is believed to be linked to an attack at around 10.00 hrs yesterday on an East Coast Demerara resident who had just left a commercial bank.
Police said that the three suspects had used a Toyota Spacio.
Ranks responded promptly and intercepted the car on the Railway Embankment.
“The driver who was found changing the vehicle’s registration plate has been arrested but the other two suspects fled and are currently being pursued. None of the stolen money recovered.
The driver, 28, of South Ruimveldt, is assisting with the investigation.”
