The Nand Persaud Group of Companies through its Sky Plus Incorporated Promotion Group has once again organised a One-Day Horse Race Meet dubbed the Nand Persaud Karibee Sprint Classic for Sunday August 12, next at the Company’s Racing Facility, No 36 Village, Macedonia Estate, Corentyne, Berbice.
The facility is the only one where horses run in a straight line from start to finish. The races will be 660 and 880 yards and has over $4M in cash, trophies and other incentives at stake. Among the events listed is the D and Lower for animals over 880yards or Four Furlongs for a winning purse of $400,000 and trophy, this is the highlight event for the day.
The event for animals classified H and Lower is for a take home prize of $260,000 and trophy over 3 Furlongs. The event for 3 year-old animals for a winning take of $200,000 and trophy also over 3 Furlongs.
The 2 year-old animals will also be competing for a winner’s purse of $200,000 and trophy over 4 Furlongs. The K Class and Lower animals will be competing for a first prize of $ 140,000 and trophy over 3 Furlongs.
There are two events for animals classified L and Lower. One for male horses over 4 Furlongs while the female animals will be galloping over 3 Furlongs both for $100,000 and trophy. Champion Jockey, Trainer and Stable will all be rewarded with trophies and other incentives compliments of the Trophy Stall and the organisers.
