The match of the night on Friday in the 2018 Rainforest Waters Senior National Squash Championships at the Georgetown Club was defiantly the game between Jason-Ray Khalil and top junior player 15-year-old Shomari Wiltshire who displayed a high standard and entertaining Squash.
In an action packed and riveting encounter Khalil won the first game 11 – 6. The second game went back and forth with Wilshire having two game balls at 10 – 9 and again at 12 – 11, but Khalil eventually prevailed 14 – 12.
The high intensity displayed in the second game appeared to take effect on both lads but the South Paw Wilshire looked the more tired of the two and Khalil galloped to easy 11-2 third game win to take the entertaining.
A good turn-out which included veteran Radio Broadcaster Ron Robinson watched as Defending champion Alex Arjoon beat former Junior Caribbean champion Damian Da Silva in three straight games.
Arjune won the first game 11-4 before Da Silva fought back gamely but could not prevent Arjune from prevailing 11-8 in the second game before finishing the match in destructive fashion; winning the third game 11-1.
Friday Night’s action also saw matches in the four quarter -finals in the Men’s Open, the lone remaining Women’s quarter final match and matches in the Men’s Veterans, Men’s Plate and Women’s Plate.
The top four seeds in the men’s Open draw all progressed in straight games to the Semi-finals which were scheduled for last night.
In the night’s opening game, Number 2 seed Richard Chin defeated Robert Fernandes 11 – 6, 11 – 6, 11 – 5, while former National champions Nyron Joseph got the better Regan Pollard by a comfortable margin of 11 – 6, 11 – 5, 11 – 6.

tually winning 11 – 3, 11 – 6, 11 – 3.
The match up in the men’s semi-finals will see defending champion Arjoon taking on Khalil, while No 2 seed
Chin comes up against Joseph.
In the Women’s semis, Mary Fung-A-Fat will battle Abosaide Cadogan and Ashley Khalil will face-off with Taylor Fernandes in what is anticipated to be riveting encounters.
