With the announcement from the Jumbo Jet Thoroughbred Racing Committee that the Triple Crown has been called off for this year due to the weather affecting the previous dates and new dates in the already cramped racing calendar not available, attention will now be turned to the Guyana Cup.
A Meet set for July 22 at the Port Mourant Turf Club has also been called off.
The Jumbo Jet Thoroughbred Racing Committee has informed that August 19 is the scheduled date for the Guyana Cup race meet, one of the biggest horseracing events in Guyana. The organisers had earlier indicated that the Guyana Cup would have been staged on August 12 but that date was changed to August 19.
Fans can still look out for the drawing of the grand raffle that was fixed for the Triple Crown. This will be drawn at the Guyana Cup on August 19 the organisers has informed. It was also noted that the raffle tickets cost has been reduced to $2,000 due to the inconvenience of the delays and postponements. A Nissan Tida car, motorcycle and other attractive prizes are on offer.
