C7 and Mix Up notched up quarter-final victories when action in the Faye Joseph dominoes competition continued recently at Gaulding Place, South Ruimveldt.
C7 chalked up 87 games to win their encounter ahead of Providence who made 81 and Lions 77. Brian Edwards top score for the winners with 16 games, while Claire Benjamin contributed 15.
Shawn Davis and Junior Smith marked 16 and 15 games respectively for Providence, while Orin Boston got 17 for Lions.
Led by Gilbert Mendonca and Ewie Gordon with 17 and 16 games in that order Mix Up scored 81 games to win ahead of Spartans 77 and All Seasons 70. Spartans were spearheaded by Shawn McKenzie 17 and Paul Duncan 15, while Raymond Ali and Dane Bynoe made 17 each for All Seasons. The semi finals will be played tonight at the said venue.
Meanwhile, senior organising secretary of the Georgetown Dominoes Association Mark “Jumbie” Wiltshire in association with Sunflower hotel and bar of Charity Essequibo Coast will be hosting a two-day dominoes competition starting on Saturday at Charity. Entrance fee is $20,000 and double-six time is 14:30hrs.
The winning team will take home a trophy and $200,000 and runner up a trophy $120,000 and third place a trophy and $60,000.
