The Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF), who will be fielding two, teams in the Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) Championships which bounces off in Suriname from the 17 to the 30th of this month, has announced the final 12 for the female squad.
The women’s championship will be played first in Paramaribo and the Guyanese ladies will depart tomorrow and return next Friday.
The full squad reads 1. Ginelle Ifill (Captain) 2. Miriam McKenzie (Co-Captain) 3. Jada Mohan 4. Annalisa Barclay 5. Saffiya Greene 6. Kennesha Leacock 7. Roschelle Campbell 8. Demelza Nicholas 9. Caron Bobb-Semple 10. Makeida Rogers 11. Cliffanna Hunter and 12. Kesann Charles.
The Manager for the Guyana team is Ms. Ann Gordon; with Troy Greene, Head Coach; Dave Causway, Assistant Coach, and Jonas Anestal as Physiotherapist and Physical Conditioner.
The Guyanese women are in Group B with Suriname, Barbados and Dominican Republic. While Group A includes: Bahamas, Cuba and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
Meanwhile, the GABF has selected fifteen players for training at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) from 19:00 hrs weekdays for selection to represent Guyana at the Senior Men Caribbean Basketball Confederation Championships in Suriname from June 22-30. Those players are 1. Stanton Rose 2. Harold Adams 3. Orland Glasgow 4. Shaine Webster 5. Ray Victor 6. Anthony Moe 7. Travis Burnett 8. Felix Hamilton 9. Travis Belgrave 10. Denzel Devonish 11. Timothy Thompson 12. Akeem Crandon 13. Kevon Wiggins 14. Nikkoloi Smith and 15. Terron Welch.
The Head Coach is Junior Hercules, Dennis Clarke; Assistant Manager/Assistant Coach, Jonas Anestal is the team’s Physiotherapist and Physical Conditioner and Nigel Hinds will serve as Team Manager.
The final team will be announced on Wednesday, June 20th and will depart for Suriname on Friday, June 22nd and return to Guyana on Sunday, July 1st. The men are in Group A with Suriname, Saint Lucia, Grenada, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, while Group B comprises of Barbados, Bermuda, Antigua & Barbuda, Haiti and Montserrat.
