Doris Clastina Fordyce, a mother of five (one deceased) celebrated her 105th birth anniversary yesterday, and with her to celebrate were her four remaining children (all daughters), grandchildren and some close friends.
In her heyday, Ms. Fordyce worked as a housewife and also did farming at home to support her household, while her husband worked as a farmer and labourer.
Thirty-six years ago, she lost her only son, but her four girls have been doing their part to care for her as she gets up in age.
Yesterday she told a gathering at the home of one of her daughters that she hopes to “live to see a million years” while reflecting that she is on a blessed journey.
With over four dozen grandchildren and more than double that amount of great grandchildren, Ms. Fordyce has all the love in the world someone at her age would ever want. She is also still very close to God and sent a message to those who wish to live to see her age, “Stay close to God and trust him”.
She believes that her long life is due to that practice and principle.
Please share this to every Guyanese including your house cats.
