At a time when being a top level Umpire can provide a comfortable standard of life for those in the profession, the Georgetown Cricket Umpires and Scorers Association (GCUSA) in an effort to encourage young people to take up Umpiring, presents a ‘Continuous Umpiring Education’ Session on June 24 at the Local Government Union Hall, Woolford Avenue, Georgetown from 10:00hrs.
It is geared as a launch for the annual training programme for new umpires which is scheduled to commenced on June 26 as well as a forum for knowledge sharing among the present umpires.
The facilitators are Regional Cricket Umpires Shannon Crawford and Ryan Banwarie and the public and especially aspiring young Umpires are encouraged to attend the workshop.
The Umpires examinations are set for the end of August and admission is free.
A highlight of the day’s activity is a feedback segment by Regional Cricket Match Referee Reon King and Guyana Jaguar’s Captain Leon Johnson.
