Dear Editor,
I would like to piggy back on Kissoon’s column dated Friday 05-08-18 about our backward nation, a nation with no intention to wake up and board the train to a place call sensibility. I know Freddie likes his music, so here is a quote from a song by an English band “The Who’, “Meet the new boss; same as the old boss; we won’t be fooled again”.
I sense the frustration, anger and stress he goes through knowing he is doing his best, to bring light to the great injustice, and two tier forms of justice, that take place in our beloved country. I asked the good Lord to show us mercy.
First, a look at the article relating to the leniency by the court shown to the murderer, and the accessories before and after this heinous crime which shocked us all at a place called Non-Pareil. Two girls hatched the plan to kill their father. Folks this takes time; they could have backed out. They did not. They then lured their father to the scene where the murder was going to take place.
The accessory after the fact was released for time served, but the accessories before the fact (conspirators) were allowed to walk completely free and board a plane.
DPP, this brutal murder would have never seen the light of day but for the sisters. This response of “two persons accepted responsibility”, is nonsensical and occurs only in a country called Guyana.
Where but for a nation lost in time that police top brass can commit serious crimes, and stay in their jobs because the Minister Of Security looks the other way, “I need these people because I lack experienced officers to do the job” It is very simple,
He is telling us, “What is good for the goose, is not good for the gander”. We, the citizens, would be put in jail for the same crimes they commited.Torture people and one is promoted, torture people and you get a false confession, but it’s ok.
The injustice that goes on in this country every day is shameful, immoral and makes absolutely no sense. It is further shameful when educated people in high positions keep quiet and look the other way, because it does not involve them or their family.
The poor people of this country have their backs against the wall as abuse after abuse Is hurled at them from all angles by people in authority who dictate “this is how it will be; you have no say in the matter”. We have a two-tier justice system, one for people with money, and one for people with no money.
Jagmohan.
THIS IDIOT TELLING GUYANA WE HAVE NO SAY IN THE 50% PROFIT SHARING AGREEMENT WE HAVE WITH EXXON.
