The Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS) has certified the Doobay Medical Centre Inc. Laboratory for the first time.
The ceremony occurred on June 5, 2018 with the lab being the 13th to be certified to the GYS 170 Standard under the GNBS Laboratory Certification Programme.
During the ceremony at the laboratory, at Lot 8-9 Courbane Park, Annandale, East Coast Demerara, Candelle Walcott-Bostwick, Executive Director (GNBS), said she was pleased that the Bureau is able to certify yet another laboratory.

She congratulated the Board and staffers of Doobay Medical Centre for their hard work and commitment to the process, which led to certification of the medical facility.
It was disclosed that implementing quality requires team effort and recognition of the need for quality.
Ameena Gafoor, Chairperson of the Laboratory’s Board, expressed appreciation to GNBS for its support over the last nine months, which led to the certification.
The Doobay Medical Centre provides critical health care services to patients and this certification guarantees the assurance of reliable test results.
Walcott- Bostwick handed over the GYS 170 Certificate to Bibi Saudia F. Khan, Senior Medical Technologist. At the event, also, were Laboratory Director, Dr. Pheona Mohamed-Rambaran, Mrs. Gafoor, the Chairperson, Zahir Khan, Administrative Manager, and Head Nurses, LaShawna John and Sacha Sookra.
