Vindra Siriram, 31, who is on trial for allegedly killing his reputed wife, is likely to know his fate tomorrow when trial Judge James Bovell-Drake surmises the evidence and direct the jurors who will thereafter be sent for deliberation on a verdict.
Siriram is accused of the June 2014 murder of his reputed wife, Shelly Persaud, which occurred at the couple’s Friendship, East Bank Demerara home.
Upon his arraignment Siriram who is being represented by Attorney-at-law Damian DaSilva pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that between June 9 and June 10, 2014, he murdered the 25-year-old woman. The State Prosecutors are Shawnette Austin and Seeta Bishundial.
Persaud, a housewife, was found at the bottom of the back stairs of the couple’s premises. Her head was partly submerged in a five-gallon bucket of water. Following the discovery of the woman’s body, a report was made by the family to the police.
Subsequent investigations led to Siriram being taken into custody and charged for the murder.
