Dear Editor,
I am at a loss to understand a certain line in Mr. GHK Lall’s reply to your columnist, Frederick Kissoon. Before I go into my details, I would like to know what GHK stands for.
Why Mr. Lall doesn’t sign his first name. Secondly, is there a fall out between GHK Lall and Mr. Glen Lall, the publisher of the Kaieteur News? I am assuming that they are related and there was some quarrel. Would the newspaper like to shed some light here?
Mr. Lall wrote; “I seem to recall dismissing the writer a while back.” I am an avid reader of your newspaper from my home in London. I have been reading your newspaper since it came online and I cannot recall a denunciation by Mr. Lall of Kissoon. Of course, Mr. Kissoon is denounced by so many persons that by now he must be immune to his accusers.
I am curious to know why Mr. Lall dismissed Freddie. I don’t agree with lots of the views and opinion of Freddie Kissoon. Freddie is the type that one day you read him and you wonder where he got the outlandish thoughts from to have put them into his column.
Then on another day, he is a philosophical dreamer that makes you sad about Guyana’s uncaring attitude towards its people.
All in all, I like Freddie. I don’t know who wouldn’t because despite the constant bickering about so many things about Guyana, he is a crusader for freedom, the kind that has changed the world for the better.
Here in London, he would have been honoured for his work a long time ago. I can tell you his name comes up all the time when we, Guyanese, meet each other at social gatherings.
So many persons would love to meet him. I left Guyana a long time ago and it still bothers me why Guyana has one Freddie Kissoon only. You mean to tell me that Guyana has not one other person that feels the need to highlight all the wrong things that takes place in the country?
You read the Freddie Kissoon Column and you think that either Freddie Kissoon is a devil inventing and imagining things or Guyana is sinking. Please tell me Mr. Editor, which is the true picture?
Do you have a mischievous writer that is selling your newspaper or you have an educated man whose pursuit is to change his country? If what Freddie Kissoon writes about is reality, then why is there only one Freddie Kissoon?
One final observation, a friend came back after visiting her homeland, Guyana and told me that Guyana’s zoo in terrible shape.
Mr. Editor, I have fond memories as a little girl going to the zoo. I came from Bel Air Park which was not far from the Botanical Gardens and many times on the weekend, my parents would take us to the zoo.
I was small back then (I don’t know if it has been greatly expanded) but at that time, the zoo was worth visiting. I hope they do something about it; I hope Mr. Granger will. From the view I have in London, Mr. Granger seems like a man who cares about his country. I would urge him to look into the complaints about the zoo.

Please share this to every Guyanese including your house cats.
