Port Mourant Jaguars served their way to the winning trophy in the just concluded Fyrish one-day Volleyball competition which was organised the Berbice Volleyball Association (BVA) contested at the Fyrish Hard Court.
Six male and two female teams competed; the male teams were PMTC1, PMTCT 2, Port Mourant Jaguars, Corriverton Jets, Guysuco Training Center/Port Mourant (GTCPM 1) and Guysuco Training Center/ Port Mourant (GTCPM 2).
In the final which was played in fading light, the Jaguars were sharper than Port Mourant Training Center 1 as they used the condition to their advantage to eke out a narrow 30-29 win in a game which went all the way. The two female teams were Port Mourant and Corriverton Jets with the Jets gaining revenge on Port Mourant, winning 2-1.
After dropping the first set at 11-15, the Jets bounced back and held their nerves to take the next two by slim margins 15-13 and 16-14. At the end of the competition trophies were presented to 1st and 2nd placed male teams, Port Mourant Jaguars and PMTC1; the Most Valuable Player Adityanand Singh of the Port Mourant Jaguars while the two female teams were also rewarded.
The female MVP was Telissa Williams.
