Ramanah was fatally shot during a robbery at his home,
It is alleged that Rayan Carter, 22, of 575 Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara on January 13, last, at Kaneville murdered Ramanah during the furtherance of a robbery.
The Preliminary Inquiry (PI) is currently being conducted in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts before Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman.
Yesterday, Prosecutor Gonsalves told the court that he is of the opinion that a prima facie case has been established against the murder accused for him to stand trial in the High Court for murder.
The PI into the murder is set to continue on April 23 when Carter is expected to call witnesses in his defence.
According to reports, Ramanah, known as ‘Jack’, was shot to his abdomen during a robbery at his home about 00:10 hrs on December 13, 2017, by one of two bandits. Ramanah was rushed to the Diamond Hospital where he was treated and transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he died after surgery.
