As police continue in their quest to do things differently, there are a number of ongoing community interactions and programmes.
One such is the series of ongoing fitness runs/walks in the Police B Division area.
Led by Divisional Commander, Assistant Commissioner Lyndon Alves, he led his ranks as they joined with members of the community to stage another fitness walk and exercise routine in Berbice.
The walk was held in the No 2 subdivision (Lower and upper Corentyne and Corentyne River).
The Commander was accompanied by and Deputy Commander Superintendent Wayne De Harte, Officer in Charge of the Subdivision, Superintendent Boodnarine Persaud and other senior officers from all the various subdivisions in Berbice.
Also on the exercise were ranks from the other subdivisions and departments including the Traffic Department, Criminal Investigation Department, Felix Austin Police College, B Division, General Duty, Special Constabulary, neighbourhood and community policing groups and members of the public.
Another successful walk was also held in sub division number 3. The 3 miles walk began at the Whim Police Station and wended its way along the main Corentyne highway before ending at the Felix Austin Police College at Adventure Corentyne.
At the end of the walk the ranks were carried through their (exercise) calisthenics paces by Commander Alves and other senior ranks.
The walks are done to keep the members of the force active and fit and also to continue the interaction with the general public. It is also done as part of the force anniversary.
Other walks are planned for the other subdivisions.
