In its ongoing quest to make sure that all heroes in the Ancient County of Berbice are honoured, the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sorts Club would be hosting two major award ceremonies in July 2018.
The two Awards are the Annual Gregory Gaskin Memorial Berbice Sports Award and the Ansa Mcal Award of Excellence. Both are part of the twelve major Awards that Guyana’s most dynamic Youth and Sports Club host every year to recognise and honour outstanding Berbicians.
Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster stated that the Gregory Gaskin Memorial Sports Award is sponsored by Mrs. Noreen Gaskin, CEO of Sentinel Security in memory of her late husband, while corporate giant Ansa Mcal (Guy) Ltd is the official sponsor of the Award of Excellence.
The Gaskin Memorial involves the sharing out of five Awards – The Berbice Sportsman of 2017, Berbice Sportswoman of the Year 2017, Berbice Sports Personality of 2017, Berbice Sports Organisation of 2017 and Lifetime Achievement Award.
Five Outstanding Berbicians would also be honoured under the Ansa Mcal Award of Excellence Programme for outstanding contribution to the development of Guyana in the fields of Sports, Education, Community Development, Health and Law Enforcement.
The two Awards Ceremonies would be held on Friday 27th July, 2018, at the St. Francis Community Developers Training Centre and would be hosted by the ten cricket teams of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, MS.
The ten teams are Rose Hall Town King Solomon Logistics Under-12, Poonai Pharmacy Under-13, Farfan & Mendes Under-15, Bakewell Under-17 and Second Division, Pepsi Under-19 and Intermediate, Metro Females, Gismos & Gadgets Under-21 and First Division.
The ten teams would like to extend an invitation to the Berbice General public to submit nominations for both Awards. Nominations for the Ansa Mcal Award should be for persons above the age of 35 years who have served with excellence in their respective field for over fifteen years and most importantly be positive role models to the younger generation. Nominations for the Gaskin Memorial Sports Award should be done by members of Sports Organisation in Berbice while no member of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club is allowed to nominate anyone. Nominations should be sent in writing to the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, C/O Area ‘H’ Ground, Rose Hall Town or email to [email protected] Names and contact information for the person making the nomination must also be included.
The final decision on the Awardees shall be made by a panel of judges headed by veteran journalist Gregory Rambarran.
Each of the Awardees shall receive a trophy, framed Certificate of Excellence, Medal of Excellence and a Collection of Special Prizes.
They would also be inducted as a Honorary Member of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, MS. Persons are encouraged to call the Club Office on 337-4562 for more information from the Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster.
