The 2018 edition of the Corona Futsal final had to be postponed on Saturday evening due to a ruckus by some fans at the National Gymnasium.
After an argument ensued between a male and a female, a few gunshots were heard causing panic in the well-attended futsal final between Bent Street and Sparta Boss.
The incident transpired during the halftime break where Sparta Boss were ahead 2-nil courtesy of early goals from Gregory “Jackie Chan” Richardson in the fourth and Jeremy Garrett in the sixth minute.
The organisers of the event have confirmed that they will be discussing the way forward for the final with the relevant stakeholders of the tournament soonest.
The winners of the tournament are pegged to receive $600,000 while the runners up will pocket $400,000.
Meanwhile, the third place finishers, Leopold Street, won via walk over from Alpha Warriors in last night’s schedule third place playoff before the final and they will receive $200,000.
The MVP of the tournament who will receive a Hero Honda 150cc motorcycle is yet o be decided.
The tournament is sponsored by Top Brandz, Rose Ramdehol Auto Sales and Namilco.
