The Corriverton Jets Volleyball Club of Corriverton Upper Corentyne, which is one of the top and most consistent volleyball clubs in Berbice, will be holding their annual day of sports and family fun day on Thursday 1st May (Labour Day). The activity will be held at the Skeldon Community Center ground beginning at 09:00 hrs.
A number of games will be played including Volleyball, cricket, football and a number of novelty events for the entire family.
All the top volleyball clubs in Berbice stretching from Siparuta and Orealla up the Corentyne River, Crabwood Creek, New Amsterdam and West Berbice are slated to participate.
Trophies, medals and cash incentives will be up for grabs and teams are asked to make contact before 22 April.
The club, which has both male and female players in both the junior and senior categories, recently undertook a two day trip to the riverain communities of Orealla and Siparuta.
There they participated in a number of games against teams that also came from neighbouring Suriname.
The club was officially formed in 2015. Since its formation it has risen up the ranks rapidly. Presently it has about 30 members who train on a regular basis.
It participates in all categories of competitions organised by the Berbice Volleyball Association (BVA). It was the female champion club in Berbice for 2016.
A number of its players have represented Guyana at the Inter Guiana Games (IGG) volleyball competition.
