‘Dynamic’ prepares to return with New York flights
Dynamic Airways, under a new name, has announced plans to return after a premature pullout last year.
Dynamic International Airways is serious about returning to the skies of Guyana.
The US company which pulled out here late last year after bankruptcy issues, leaving passengers stranded and almost 200 persons jobless, has amended previously announced plans to offer scheduled service between the United States and China, in favour of flights to South America.
In a filing to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) seeking to endorse its claim to substantial fitness, the carrier said it would offer scheduled flights between New York JFK and Georgetown, Cheddi Jagan in Guyana using its fleet of B767s.
According to a report of www.ch-aviation.com, the commencement dates have yet been given in light of the ongoing regulatory proceedings.
Having exited Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceeding last month, Dynamic International Airways LLC has changed its legal name to Eastern Airlines, LLC. It is also in the process of adopting the Eastern Airlines brand name.
Dynamic in a disclosure to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) had said that under its court-approved reorganization plan, it will continue to operate ACMI-type charter flights in a bid to rebuild its financial resources.
It said that during its time in bankruptcy protection, it had seen “substantial unmet public/market need for carriers with wide-body convertible aircraft”.
As such, it requires DOT approval to increase its fleet beyond the current limit of five “large aircraft” to ten.
“Dynamic has the infrastructure to operate 10 aircraft and has a strong FAA compliance record,” it said. “The current five aircraft restriction significantly limits financial growth and leads to costly inefficiencies in its maintenance department.”
All aircraft Dynamic currently operates – one B767-200, two -(ER)s, and two B767-300(ER)s – are dry leased from various LLCs owned by Woolley. However, the disclosure states that Woolley will be donating these leased aircraft to Dynamic in the near future, such that Dynamic will own its entire B767 fleet.
The airline has been under US Chapter 11 protection since July 2017.
Dynamic Airways operated four years in Guyana before ending its flights last year.
Late last September, flights were reportedly decreased from five weekly to two.
The North-Carolina based carrier, Dynamic Airways transported at least 80,000 passengers to and from Guyana.
The New York route from Guyana is a high demand one which left travelers feeling the burden of high ticket prices.
Currently, the high demand JFK destination is being served by Caribbean Airlines and Fly Jamaica.
In Guyana, Dynamic ground handling and other services were handled by Roraima Airways.
