A 43-year-old woman, her 19-year-old son, and their 17-year-old alleged accomplice were yesterday remanded to prison in connection with the murder of 52-year-old security guard Munesh Prem Ayasammy Munien.
Carlos Bollers, 19, of Lot 119 Williamsburg, Corentyne, Berbice, and his alleged accomplice, Yuvraj Singh, 17, of Lot 23 Guava Bush, Albion, Corentyne, Berbice were charged with murder when they appeared at the Albion Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Renita Singh.
The charge read to Bollers and Singh stated that on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Rose Hall Town, they murdered Munesh Prem Ayasammy Munien, called ‘Tad,’ in the course of a robbery. Both teens told the court that it was their first offence.
The prosecution stated that their file was incomplete.
Meanwhile, the charge read to Bollers’s mother, Lalita Bollers, of Lot 1E Ramphal Street, Corentyne, Berbice, stated that while knowing that Bollers and Singh, on March 31, last, murdered Munien, on Sunday, April 1, she received, released and com
forted the two accused.
The three were remanded until April 23, 2018.
The other employees that were held for the murder/robbery are expected to be released.
On Saturday, March 31, 2018, the body of Munesh Prem Ayasammy Munien was found slumped on sandbags in Sukhram’s General Store and Agro Chemicals, located along the Rose Hall Town public road.
The victim bore a gaping wound to the throat, a wound to the head and his legs appeared to have been broken. Some $1.5M was said to be missing from the store.
Employees of the business, including Bollers and Singh, were taken into custody.
Police said they subsequently recovered some money at the home of Bollers’ mother.
