Zeelandia and Good Success/Sans Souci and Melville have recorded victories when the Wakenaam Cricket Committee/Regal Sports U-19 40-over tournament commenced recently.
At Zeelandia, Zeelandia/Maria’s Pleasure combined defeated G Square Cavaliers by 34 runs. Batting first, Zeelandia/Maria’s Pleasure managed 193 all out in 35 overs. Ricky Persaud made 40, Mahendra Jadookul 29 and Drayshower Phillips 20; Mahendra Dindyal claimed 3-16 and Tashal Surujpaul 3-42.
G Square Cavaliers responded with 159 all out in 20 overs. Dindyal led with 40, while Romario Stephen made 39 and Bhumeshwar Ramkissoon 23. Jadookul captured 4-30 including a hat-trick and Ryan Atkinson 2-18.
At Wakenaam Community Centre ground in Good Success, Good Success/Sans Souci and Melville combined beat Noitgedacht Sports Club by 73 runs.
Good Success/Sans Souci and Melville took first strike and posted 180 all out in 21 overs. S. Hansraj scored 48, Mahase Ramnarine 40 and Beesham Moses 27; Fitzroy Retemiah grabbed 4-32, Michael Retemiah 2-26 and Matthew Chung 2-30.
NSC were bowled out for 107 in 12 overs. Chung struck 58 as Ramnarine picked up 3-21 and Quacy Whyte 3-27.
The competition continues on Saturday with G Square Cavaliers facing Noitgedacht at the Wakenaam Community Centre ground and at Zeelandia, Zeelandia/Maria’s Pleasure will play Good Success/Sans Souci/Melville.
