The Georgetown based Triple ‘D’ Transportation Service has joined hands with the dynamic Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, MS and its ten cricket teams as they seek to fulfill their mandates to successfully complete a 2018 target of 700 activities under a wide range of sub-headings. Don Purdessy, CEO of the Company which provides transportation services to Lethem from Georgetown, said he was impressed with the outstanding work of the Club and as such he was inspired to donate a large quantity of trophies towards events hosted by the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club.
Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster stated that he was humbled that the businessman who was born in Guyana’s smallest township would remember his roots. The trophies would be used to honour Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club Members during the upcoming 28th Annual Award Ceremony on the 29th April, 2018, while some would also be used to assist other Clubs/Social Organisations who request assistance from the Area ‘H’ Ground based Club. Foster who was recently elected President of the Berbice Cricket Board stated that every week, the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club Office receives over 20 letters for assistance and sometimes struggles to meet the large requests. The Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club as a matter of policy tries to assist as much but is an NGO which like every non-profit organisation depends on the goodwill of the general public.
He praised Purdessy and Triple ‘D’ Transportation for their confidence in the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club and expressed hope that the relationship would be strengthened in the future. Among the events that the donation would assist to organise are cricket matches, Tribute to Heroes Awards, Essay Competition and Spelling Bee Competition for Primary School.
The ten cricket teams of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club on the 29th April, 2018, would be honouring their peers in Guyana’s largest Award Ceremony. Among the awards to be shared out would be the Under-15 Player of the Year, Under-17 Player of the Year, Most Discipline Player, Most Committed Member, Worker of the Year, Female Cricketer of the Year, Runner-up Cricketer of the Year and Cricketer of the Year.
Among the numerous Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club members expected to be honoured are Shemaine Campbelle, Erva Giddings, Kelvin Sinclair, Kevlon Anderson, Junior Sinclair, Clinton Pestano, Jonathan Rampersaud, Jeremy Sandia and Mahendra Gopilall. The Cricketer of the Year would take home over $350,000 worth of prizes.
