Guyana’s female 200m record holder (22.99 seconds) Brenessa Thompson opened her 2018 outdoor season with a win at the Arizona State Baldy Castillo Invitational in the 100m final with an impressive time of 11.45seconds, three tenths
off her personal best time of 11.14 which was set at the National Track and Field Facility (NTFF), Leonora in 2016.
The overseas based Thompson who represented Guyana at the Rio Olympics in 2016, finished ahead of Courtne Davis who finished in second place in a time of 11.54 seconds and Candice Hill third with a time of 11.56 seconds.
Thompson currently attends Texas A&M University and she is aiming to represent the Golden Arrow ahead once more at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan. This win is certainly a step in the right direction as preparations for the event continues.
