Kamal Samaroo, the father-in-law of now dead 23-year-old Muneshwar Bisnauth, reportedly confessed yesterday to the police that he had dealt a blow to the head of the young man with a piece of wood during an argument, and this likely resulted in his demise.
The incident took place on Sunday evening during a drunken melee at the home of Samaroo, at Dundee, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara.
Yesterday, Samaroo revisited the crime scene with the police and provided them with a caution statement. He also pointed detectives to the piece of wood he allegedly used to strike the father of one on the head.
Relatives of the dead man are contending that he never shared a healthy relationship with his in-laws, ever since he and Samaroo’s daughter began living together and parenting a young baby boy.
The father of the dead man related that he was at home when his daughter- in-law came to his gate and told him that she was in the process of bringing the man home and he fell and hit his head, and that he was not moving.
However, the man said that when he went around the corner to where the incident took place, he observed that his son was lying motionless and he urged the in-laws not to touch him, but to call the police, suspecting that things may not have been as they were related to him.
On Sunday night, those close to Bisnauth did indicate that the story being related by Bisnauth’s in-laws was not adding up, since the wound to his head did not seem consistent with falling on a flat surface.
A post mortem is to be performed tomorrow and following that, the police are likely to seek legal advice as it relates to possible charges.
