In the staggered start (between 10:30 – 12:30) the Club Tournament hosted by the Lusignan Golf Club its President Aleem Hussain was clear winner, while 3rd place was taken by another Executive, Secretary Rabindranath Persaud.
Mr. Hussain noted, “The Executive has promised to champion the Club Tournaments, and so far we are doing fairly well.” Meanwhile Secretary Rabindranath opined, “The performance shows that the Executives are practicing often, maybe more often than some Club Members. This should encourage other Members to increase their practice sessions.”
The day’s winners and their performances were as follows: Nearest to The Pin (5 feet) – Rabindranath ‘Pandit Ravi’ Persaud; Best Gross (78) – Aleem Hussain; Best Net 3rd – ‘Ravi’ Persaud 72/18; 2nd– veteran golfer and winner of the Sanjay’s tournament in February, Maurice Solomon 70/23; and 1st – Aleem Hussain 65/13.
Captain Chatterpaul Deo said, “In five years this has been the best performance from a Club President.”
Other golfers who placed in the top ten (10) Net performances were: Brian Hackett 73/16; Shanella Webster 74/16; Patrick Prashad 75/9; Haresh Tewari 75/18; Hilbert Shields 77/16; Robert Hanoman 77/25; Mike Mangal 78/8 and Dr Philbert London 79/18.
Visiting the Club for the first time were Dentists Dr. Stewart and Ricardo Stewart (father and son) of Charlotte Street, Georgetown, who indicated that they were “very impressed with the state of the Club, and are committed to being involved in golfing at Lusignan.”
