Berbice were crowned champions of the Guyana Cricket Board Dave West Indian Imports inter county U15 50-over tournament which concluded on Sunday at Bourda.
In a match which was reduced to 25 overs due to rain, Berbice managed 88 all out in 25 overs. Jonathan Rampersaud made 19, while Zynul Ramsammy and Mahendra Gopilall made 15 each and Antowne Alexander 14. Shafeek Khan claimed 4-14, while Chanderpaul Ramraj and 3-15.
In reply, Demerara struggled after losing two quick wickets in the first two overs with the score on three. Nicholas Rajpat came in at number three but fell for eight while Romel Datterdeen was caught for 2. Chandrapaul Ramraj top scored with nine as Isia Thorne captured 3 for 18, while Budhram Rampersaud had 2-5 and Jonathon Rampersaud 2-15.
The leading run-scorer for this tournament was Zyunl Ramsammy with 63 runs. Jonathon Rampersaud walked away with both the Man-of-the-Match and Most Valuable Player awards with a total of 15 wickets in the tournament, a best of 5 for 12.
