The Guyana Boxing Association (GBA) and McDonald Promotions yesterday received a timely shot in the arm for Sunday’s Patrick Ford Memorial competition scheduled for the National Gymnasium.
Tower Suites signed on as the official sponsor of the event which will see boxers from Trinidad & Tobago, Suriname, St. Lucia and Guyana participating. Guyanese Light Welterweight sensation Colin ‘Superman’ Lewis will face St. Lucian ‘Furious’ Nathan Ferrari in the feature match of the night which has a total of 14 scheduled fights; the first bell will sound at 19:00hrs.
According to the head of the GBA, Steve Ninvalle, tomorrow’s card forms part of his association’s preparation for the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games qualifiers that will be held in Mexico next month. The 2018 CAC Games will be hosted in Barranquilla, Columbia from July to August. Admission to the venue is $1500 ringside, $1000 for the stands.
