Dear Editor,
A letter in your Sunday Edition signed by the Regional Chairman of Region One caught my eye. It relates to the Member of Parliament’s ‘active involvement’ in matters relating to the Registration of Births and issuing of Birth Certificates.
As most persons can recall, in the days of the PPP, there was a PPP activist who issued Birth Certificates and Pension Books from what was known as the PPP Office at Kumaka, Mabaruma. It was also alleged that children below the voting age were registered and issued Birth Certificates which showed that they had assumed the age of majority.
This is by no means an effort to cover for Mr. Richard Allen, who I think should be doing a lot more to make himself relevant as a Regional Representative. My intention is to set the record straight and not leave the Regional Chairman to derail himself from what was perpetrated and accepted previously.
Citizen of Region 1.
