The Guyana Darts Association (GDA) has put all players on notice as the trials for the Caribbean Cup will be contested next week, the 26th and 28th of February at the Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) from 19:00hrs on both nights.
The team to represent Guyana at this year’s Caribbean Championships, which is scheduled to be contested in the twin island republic of Trinidad and Tobago this July, will be selected from next week’s trials and non-members of the GDA will not be able to take part in the event, according to head of the GDA, Sheik Yassin. However, persons desirous can sign up to be part of the GDA and pay the yearly fee which is a $5,000.
Expected to compete at the trials is the current holder of the Caribbean Men’s single title, Sudesh Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald also makes up half of the Caribbean Doubles champions while also being the reigning South American Champion. Additionally, last week, Fitzgerald became the first non-national to win the Brazilian Men’s Darts Championship. (Calvin Chapman)
