Dear Editor,
Our country, Guyana is becoming populated, with housing and commercial drives. The Ministry of Public Security, which is the responsible body for the Guyana Fire Service, has built a few new fire stations around the country, but more will be needed, in the near future.
Over a short period of time, the Guyana Fire Service have acquired modern firefighting equipment to deal with all types of fire and rescue operations.
The citizenry will be comfortable, only if the Ministry of Public Security, along with the fire department and the water authority, could have a work programme, to install more fire hydrants, at suitable locations, around the country, with the fire department being the main figure to pressure test all hydrants, once per month.
Should the above measure be put in place, the capability boast for fighting fires, will severely reduce on time.
Thanking you, for publishing my letter.
Yours Faithfully,
Parmanand Ram
