The National Insurance Scheme (NIS) is moving to introduce live web chats for customers.
According to the NIS, it has been constantly monitoring and reviewing systems, looking at ways to improve the services provided to customers.
Over the last few years, the entity has implemented new systems and services to reduce the time customers have to spend interacting with the scheme.
“Some of the new services are self-service and include online checking of contributions, online submission of contribution schedules, online access to the pensions calculator and downloadable forms. All of these services can be accessed on our website www.nis.org.gy. Additionally, the scheme has a very active Facebook page which facilitates daily interaction (messaging) with our staff.”
NIS disclosed that commencing January 2018, the scheme has added a new and “exciting” feature to its website- the live chat.
“This latest feature allows persons to chat live with a Customer Service staff between the hours of 8:00-4:30 on Mondays to Thursdays and 8:00-3:30 on Fridays. On weekends, persons are allowed to post questions and queries which are usually answered on the first working day of the new week. In order to be engaged in a live chat, the user must visit our website and register his/her name and email address on the live chat box which is displayed in green at the bottom, right hand corner of the page.”
NIS said that it anticipates a heavy flow of traffic on the live chat which has already attracted a significant number of customers since its implementation.
To officially launch the feature, NIS will be hosting a press conference next Thursday, at its Head Office, Brickdam and Winter Place, Georgetown.
NIS said that it will also be providing employers with free CDs of copies of its Electronic Schedules.
