In a case of domestic violence, a woman who beat up her lover on a regular basis has been jailed for 10 months on a charge of unlawful wounding.
Jem Rosmund Cadogan, 49, of Lot 18 Adelphi Village, East Canje Berbice is a mother of three. She is well known to the authorities and is a court regular.
She was accused of wounding George David called “John Quain”, 62, of Lot 3 Goed Bananen Land , East Canje Berbice.
The incident was committed on December 16, last, at Goed Bananen Land, East Canje Berbice.
It was noted that it was not the first time that Codogan was before the court for wounding the victim or other residents.
She appeared before Magistrate Renita Singh in the Reliance Magistrate’s Court where she was found guilty.
According to Prosecutor Winston Poliah, the two are known to each other and would live together from time to time. He said that when they are not living together, they would visit one another on a regular basis.
They would consume alcohol together or with friends as often as possible.
The prosecution noted that there would be a steady fight between the two, but they would be back together in a short while.
On the day in question, there was one such encounter. The matter was reported and Cadogan was arrested and charge.
Cadogan was jailed for six months in 2014 on an unlawful wounding charge on David. She had also burnt his clothes.
She was also on an attempted murder change which was committed in 2014 on David Hoyte, called ‘Tate’ a pensioner. She was also jailed for that crime.
In November 2017, whilst in a drunken state, she was accused of burning her one bedroom cottage down.
