Two men were yesterday arraigned before a City Magistrate for allegedly stealing a quantity of lights valued at $677,000 from Marriott Hotel.
Adrian Foster, 20, and Andre Foster, 19, both of Lot 10 Triumph East Coast Demerara, appeared before Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts and denied the charge which alleged that between November 1 and November 30, last at Marriot Hotel Bond, Kingston, Georgetown, they stole a quantity of lights worth $677,000, property of Yumin Zong.
Both men were represented by Attorney-at-law Adrian Thompson.
The lawyer in his application to secure bail for his clients told the court that his clients were not aware that the articles were stolen but the articles were found in their possession.
However, facts presented by Police Prosecutor Arvin Moore, stated that on December 24, a report was made after it was discovered that the lights were missing.

The mother after hearing that Andre was arrested went to the station and handed over Adrian to ranks at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) after hearing that he was wanted for questioning.
The court head that when Andre went to CID, he admitted to removing the articles because the Hotel owed him money.
The file was then sent for advised and charges were instituted.
While the prosecutor had no objection to bail being granted to the defendants, he asked that it be in a substantial amount and that conditions be attached.
Bail was then granted to the defendants in the sum of $150,000 each. They were also instructed to report to the CID Headquarters every Friday until the completion of the trial.
The defendants will make their next court appearance on February 7 where they will appear before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan for assignments.
