Three interior workers on Friday last met with an accident in their home village, as they were on their way to the interior.
Conroy Cos, 22, of 99 Third Avenue, Bartica, said he was on his way to an interior village, called Cumu, when the ATV, registered as CG 8215, collided with an enclosed Land Cruiser.
Cos, the driver of the All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) said he does not remember the registration number on the vehicle that collided with him, but remembers clearly that the driver of the vehicle had come over to his lane when they crashed.
The ATV, which was transporting two passengers as well as the driver, none of whom was wearing helmets, crashed with the vehicle, causing all of the men to land on the windscreen of the vehicle.
It was around 09:30am that the men were rushed to the Bartica Hospital. The passengers, Denzel Neblett, 22, escaped with minor injuries and Darrel sustained a broken right foot. Cos was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital, since the doctors at that institution “could not handle” his fractured foot.
The driver of the Cruiser, who is also reportedly from Bartica, has been released on Station bail, Cos said.
The injured father of one said he usually travels to the interior to transport workers and food. He had visited only the week before the accident.
