SWAT head denies whisky smuggling

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Motie Dookie, has told investigators that he knows nothing about the 30 cases of smuggled Johnny Walker whisky that were found in the minibus in which he was travelling on December 31, last at Whim, Corentyne.
Dookie, who was the Commander of the SWAT Unit, claimed that he only begged for a drop to the city from the driver of the vehicle. The driver on the other hand has admitted that the whiskey belongs to him. He is being questioned by the Guyana Revenue Authority.

Kaieteur News was informed that investigators believe that the driver of the vehicle is taking the fall for Dookie, who has since been relieved of his duties as SWAT Commander as he remains under close arrest at police’s headquarters.
Dookie was intercepted at a roadblock and he was the only passenger along with the minibus driver. Reports are that one box of the whiskey was spotted by ranks at the roadblock when they decided to pull over the minibus.
The Senior Police reportedly identified himself and told the ranks that the Johnny Walker belonged to him and that he was talking it to an Old Year’s Night party. However, when the Corporal at the roadblock opted to conduct a thorough search, some 30 boxes of the smuggled alcohol were discovered.
Dookie and the minibus driver were immediately taken into custody.
