The Guyana Police Force (GPF) has recorded 99 murders as of the end of November with disorderly murders topping the list at 48. For the same period last year, the force recorded 139 murders with 59 disorderly murders.
There were seven execution-style killings so far when compared to eight in 2016.
Robbery/murders thus far amount to 14; and 29 for the same period last year. Sixteen domestic murders were recorded.
According to the GPF, there was a 27 percent decrease in murders, with ‘A’ Division recording the highest number—35 cases. ‘G’ Division has recorded one murder for the year so far.
For robbery under arms, there were 602 cases when compared to 720 for the same period last year. There were 270 cases of robberies where other objects were used. Two hundred and eighteen rape cases were reported, which is a six percent decrease as compared to 2016.
Kaieteur News was told that 115 firearms were found.
