Dear Editor,
It’s time to bring major charges against many former PPP Ministers for their alleged roles in pilfering state funds and other of state property during their twenty-three years in office.
Noteworthy, since Christopher Ram was denied the GECOM chairmanship, his vendetta against the APNU+AFC Coalition Government has risen to a lofty height. His recent call to “initiate private criminal charges against several top Guyana government ministers and officials for allegedly failing to deposit a multi-million United States (US) dollar signing bonus from ExxonMobil into the Consolidated Fund,” shows his viral vengeance towards the coalition.
The PPP opposition must not be allowed to carry the mantle of initiating charges allegedly based on corruption, when they are/were the main purveyors of corruption and fraud.
This type of “take no prisoners approach” by Ram is a clear indication why the coalition government should have been more forceful in bringing criminal charges against many of the former PPP Ministers. It’s not too late to implement such additional actions. It’s time for SOCU to formally lay out the charges for the public consumption, even those charges which are privately being considered.
The APNU+AFC coalition should also be cognizant of the direction in which the opposition plans to travel and therefore must be fully prepared to counter any malfeasance directed towards them. The coalition MUST also be prepared to defend themselves in a vigorous manner against all actions.
Further, President Granger should not take the “bait” from Christopher Ram to “apologise to the nation,” for this would show culpability. Ram is hoping his so-called revelation will be his day in the sun. Ram must also remember, forgetting the core of the sun is its hottest.
The PPP and its surrogate, Christopher Ram, do not have any evidence that Ministers Trotman and Jordan did anything wrong. Noteworthy, why didn’t Ram call in the police when Anil Singh allegedly kept over $11.117 billion in “special miscellaneous accounts” outside of the Consolidated Fund?
